Suffering can can result in feelings of isolation and loss of hope. My name is Alison and through my own challenges I have studied holistic approaches and believe a balanced system can be achieved by anyone. Any physical injury or illness has many facets and coping involves strategies to help ourselves and attend to each of the areas that can exacerbate the condition. A holistic approach to caring for the body so that it can do it's job to maintain health and well being and ultimately heal. I can remember many days where the doctor couldn't help, my loved ones couldn't help and I was out of ideas. I knew I couldn't live like this and I myself was creating more chaos by trying to fix it. I didn't realize that I was so focused on the solution I was ignoring what my body, mind and spirit needed which was balance. I was out of touch with myself. It happens; it happens through surgery, trauma, even just a lifestyle can bring about an imbalance in our body/mind/spirit. The first best step? Meditating. Find a way to try it. Follow the rhythm of your breath for 10 minutes. Sit or lie quietly. Close your eyes. Breathe in through the nose deeply - bring the breath to the tip of your tail bone bringing it all the way down then bring it all the way up out the top of your head, out through the mouth. Follow this breath as it begins to create a rhythm. If that's too complicated just breathe quietly in and out. If your mind keeps jumping in recognize and gently release the thought like letting go of a helium balloon. Guided meditations work if this doesn't - try meditation oasis, they have lots of free ones to try. Don't give up, this is the single best thing you can do for yourself.
