Yesterday was a terrible pain day. And I suffered through it, sincerely let it get the better of me, body mind and spirit. I even was conscious of it and tried to change my vibration by doing kind things for my body, but the thoughts took over and it was a wash. Today I woke up feeling good..one of those days wow, what happened, yesterday was so awful and today so much better; I find that if I wake up and feel even just a little better my whole day is usually better -often my first thoughts are, oh gosh, how can I re-create this? What did I do/not do yesterday, I start running down how many anti-inflammatory pills I took, how many times I meditated, what chores I did, what is the weather, pattern, did I drink more water than usual, whatever I can think of that might impact pain. And yes, every one of those things can have an impact on pain! But the biggest impact on the day is that feel good feeling and the sincere appreciation for a day started off with even just a little less pain than the day before. By consciously thinking, saying and feeling sincere kind and loving things to myself in the morning is incredibly helpful.
Self-compassion is an appreciation for the body's real struggle and suffering. And those days when you wake up in pain compassion is never the first thought. The first thought is the struggle, fear, suffering. We need to train ourselves for self compassion and feel it for our bodies. If the body is in pain we are suffering - but the genesis of the pain is a body/mind/spirit in struggle...so remembering this is a way to find true heart-felt compassion for our bodies, ourselves and nurture our way to healing. Healing ourselves by lifting our vibration, letting in the light and being in gratitude for our bodies.
This is an excellent diagram of how thoughts create our reality:
